Podhaüs begin. Ted Leo, from Ted Leo and The Pharmacists, joins the podcast this week. Ted tells us about his Thin Lizzy proselytizing, his times with his early band Chisel and one of his longest held musical regrets. He tells us about his major label meeting that almost talked him into it and we forget the name of the guy who wrote Waiting for Godot and the Mark Wahlberg movie with the intimate behavior on the rollercoaster.
We also answer your twitter questions. Most of them were addressed to Ted. Also how the French-Dutch movie The Vanishing really screwed up Ted.

We start with an excerpt from Lance Bangs. We play a song from early in his career Bliss “Gaining Weight” and then Lance takes us through the crazy story of his tour with Mercury Rev on Lollapalooza ’93.
Rozwell Kid with Roger And Bob (Rode Out That Day) from Willow Creek
Next up is Bobcat Goldthwait from the Flying the Episode. He talks his time touring with “The Nirvanas”, his never launched two handed act with David Bowie, and jettisoning his old on stage character.
Next up we’re back to Lance Bangs where casually mentions surviving a plane crash and we make him go into it. Both Lance stories and even more with him are available on the Episode Before The Next One from our feed.
Swallowing Knives- Life Before Your Job
And finally, when we were putting this best of together, there was only one unanimous call from all of us. “The one where Ruby farted”. Ruby is Jonah and Deannas dog, who is old and has digestive trouble and was a frequent visitor when we did the sow from Jonah backyard shed. We play Sleeping Bag & Rozwell Kid- Miguel This episode features old friends Clint Trucks, Dave Kloc, Deanna Rooney, and Tony Thaxton. A great example of how this show started killing time and a 12 pack in Jonahs backyard.

The crimes of being pleasant and charming! We talk the lack of sincerity in television, 1st concerts, memories of his SNL times. He also goes deep on the Shellac song that he was able to use in the recent season finale of AP Bio. Check it out on your steaming service of preference. Listen on to find out all about the band The Real Neats and we have an isolated vocal track comedy discussion that has to be the top isolated vocal track comedy discussion we’ve done since we joined Max Fun a few months ago.

No guest this week and we recorded on a Sunday afternoon. Talked Neils self inflicted haircut bet, Jonahs old shiny jeans, and gum chewing. You normal Sunday afternoon stories. Neil tells a half remembered story from an Ian MacKay interview with Henry Rollins. Jonah introduces the new segment “Jonah’s Right, Prove Him Wrong”, where you the viewer get a chance to tell him why he’s wrong about things. Write us at Jonahraydio@gmail.com to get your chance to argue with him.
And if you’re in Los Angeles this weekend, please come by the grand opening of World Famous Original, where Jonah will be DJing and Neil will be drinking. Cash will be there too.

Second Draft
So it all went wrong this time. Our guest, Rob Schrab put in the wrong address to his GPS and ended up 40 miles away from the studio. We were backed up against our deadline date so we needed to record one to go up today. So we started recording without him, actually called him and did sort of an interview while he sat in traffic. Then Jonah hung up on him and Rob called back and threatened to cut all of Jonahs close ups when he directs MST3K. It was really funny and worked out well and with a great game in the second act of the show we were back on top of the world with forty minutes of a great podcast we had salvaged from the ashes.
Then the recorder failed.
So we made another one and thats what you’re getting. Rob wouldn’t pick jp when we called back. Neil cheated in the game by using all Jonahs successful answers from the first, now lost, round. We talked band feuds. It was a real experience.

“[I’m a]better ping pong player than a slam poet.”- Sage Francis
Very Podcast this week. Sage Francis and B. Dolan, separately amazing road warrior MCs and together THE EPIC BEARD MEN supergroup you’ve been waiting for, came and sit down with Jonah, Cash, and a commute harried Neil Mahoney. We talk how Malaysian food is the cuisine of the future, how the two of them have been working to keep their shows safe spaces, Scribble Jam, the periodic table of hip hop elements, the fun of doing “fantasy rap”, and we go deep on how Slam Poetry is a system that can be manipulated. Fascinating stuff from fascinating guys. Myself, I was a little starstruck. We didn’t play a ton of music on this show, but please check out both Sage and B. Dolan, separately and together

Sorry so overmodulated. We tended to shout cause we were so excited! It didn’t sound any better live!
Warning, it turns out when you have an antagonistic podcast, you get a antagonistic audience.
John “Jughead” Pierson from SCREECHING WEASEL and EVEN IN BLACKOUTS got attacked by a wild boar. He gets into the yin/yang of Screeching Weasel, and what then yin gets up to when the yang isn’t around, his experiences with Green Day and Blink 182, and his theater gigs. A guy kept bringing Jonah PBRs. All Time Champion Guest Dave Lyons came thru and flew in to sing “Veronica Hates Me” with Jughead. Jughead also brought games and gift and we got into that. A few folks attempted “Slogans” with Jughead and Jonah finished it up with his own vocalizing on “Peter Brady”.
Check out all the shows they do at The North Bar at liveatthenorthbar.com
Check out Screeching Weasel and Even In Blackouts online.
And a big thanks to all those who came out. A big “go f*ck yourselves” to whoever bought the Malort.

OUT OF CONTEXT QUOTATION “I learned I can be bought. That’s what I learned”- Bill Corbett on “Meet Dave”
Good podcast to y’all. On this weeks installment of the show, we sit down with RIFF TRAX riffing/Crow T Robot playing/Meet Dave screenwritin’ Bill Corbett. We talk riffing on movies, Garrison Keillors creepy behavior, the Masterclass teachings of Steve Martin, Meet Dave and literally dozens more things. It was great, a real treat for all involved. Don’t trust anybody who says otherwise. They’ll have bigger flaws if they’re willing to lie about something like that.
Check out RiffTrax live June 14th in Nashville or even in your local theater.
And it’s not too late for have US play YOUR game at our live show at the North Bar in Chicago this weekend. Submit your ideas for a game to the email address that is the name of the show at gmail dot com.
